Indiana Fishing License 2026: Trout/Salmon Stamp, Senior Exemptions, and Prices

Use the April 1-March 31 license year, the under-18 exemption, and the senior birthdate cutoff before adding the $11 trout/salmon stamp.

Indiana rules that change what you buy

Annual dates
Annual fishing licenses and annual stamps run April 1-March 31, not a personal 365-day year.
Trout/salmon stamp
Fishing for or taking trout or salmon from public waters triggers the stamp unless an exemption or included product applies.
Under 18
Resident and nonresident anglers under 18 do not need the fishing license or trout/salmon stamp.
Resident seniors
Born before April 1, 1943 means no license or stamp; age 64+ born later uses the senior annual or Fish for Life rows.

Indiana annual fishing licenses and annual stamps run April 1 through March 31. A one-day fishing license is different: it already includes trout/salmon privilege, so a one-day public-water trout trip should not add a separate annual stamp by habit.

The trout/salmon stamp applies when an angler fishes for or takes trout or salmon from Indiana public waters unless the angler is exempt or the license product includes the privilege. Residents and nonresidents under 18 are exempt from the fishing license and the trout/salmon stamp.

Indiana resident seniors split by birthdate. Residents born before April 1, 1943 do not need the fishing license or stamp; residents 64+ born after March 31, 1943 can use Senior Annual Fishing or Senior Fish for Life, and both include trout/salmon privilege.
